Welcome to SciTech.lk (“we”, “us”, “our”). By using this website and placing an order, you agree to these Terms & Conditions. If you do not agree, please do not use the website.

1) About SciTech.lk

SciTech.lk is an online bookstore in Sri Lanka providing science & technology books, especially for Advanced Level (A/L) students.

2) Using Our Website

You agree to use this website only for lawful purposes. You must not:

  • attempt to hack, damage, or misuse the site
  • place fake orders or provide false contact/address details
  • copy our content/branding without permission

We may restrict access or cancel orders if we detect misuse.

3) Products & Book Information

  • We sell physical books and related educational materials.
  • Book images and descriptions are for reference. Covers/printings/editions may vary by publisher.
  • If an item is out of stock or there is a listing error, we will contact you and may cancel/refund/credit as applicable.

4) Prices

  • Prices are shown in LKR unless stated otherwise.
  • Delivery charges (if any) are shown at checkout.
  • If a price is clearly incorrect due to a system error, we may cancel the order and issue a refund/credit if payment was made.

5) Placing an Order (Order → Doorstep)

  1. Add items to cart
  2. Checkout (enter correct name, phone number, delivery address or choose pickup)
  3. Select delivery method and payment method
  4. Place the order
  5. We confirm payment/availability and dispatch
  6. You receive the parcel (or collect from shop)

6) Payment Methods

We accept:

  • PayHere (Online Payments)
  • Direct Bank Transfer
  • Cash on Delivery (COD)
  • Pay at the Shop (Local Pickup)

PayHere (Online Payments)

Online payments are processed via PayHere and are also subject to PayHere’s terms.

Direct Bank Transfer

  • Your order will be processed after we verify the payment (reference/slip may be requested).
  • If we do not receive confirmation within a reasonable time, we may cancel the order.
 

7) Shipping & Delivery

We deliver using:

  • Sri Lanka Post (estimated 3–5 days)
  • COD and Express Delivery (estimated 2–3 days)
  • Same Day Delivery (PickMe Flash) (available for nearby Nugegoda orders, when shown at checkout)
  • Local Pickup (Nugegoda)
    You can collect your order from our store:
    • 10.00 AM – 6.00 PM, Monday to Saturday
      Please bring your order number/confirmation.

Delivery time notes:
Delivery times are estimates and can vary due to holidays, weather, or delivery network delays.

8) Customer Responsibilities

To ensure smooth delivery, you agree to:

  • provide a correct phone number and full address (house no., road, area, landmark if possible)
  • be reachable for delivery calls/messages
  • accept the parcel when delivered (especially for COD orders)

If a parcel is returned due to incorrect address/phone number or customer unavailability, re-delivery charges may apply.

9) COD Orders, Confirmation & Doorstep Rejections (Important)

COD is offered for customer convenience, but a small number of doorstep rejections cause heavy delivery losses.

By selecting Cash on Delivery (COD), you agree that:

  • you are placing a serious order and will accept & pay when the parcel arrives
  • we may contact you via call/WhatsApp/SMS to confirm the order before dispatch
  • for some COD orders (e.g., new customers, high-value orders, or risk areas), we may require COD confirmation and/or a delivery deposit before dispatch
  • if a COD parcel is rejected at the doorstep without a valid reason, we may:
    • restrict COD for that phone number/address in future
    • require prepayment or COD deposit for future orders
    • cancel future COD orders that cannot be verified

These controls help us keep delivery charges fair for genuine students and customers.

10) Order Changes & Cancellations

Before dispatch (Processing stage)

If you contact us while the order is still processing:

  • We may be able to update address/phone or remove items.
  • Pre-paid orders: if you request to remove books while processing, the value of removed books may be converted to store credit (cash/card refunds are not guaranteed for “change of mind” removals).

After dispatch

Once dispatched, we usually cannot change items or cancel delivery.

11) Store Credit Terms

Store credit:

  • can be used for any future purchase on SciTech.lk
  • is not exchangeable for cash and is not transferable
  • may be issued for approved adjustments (e.g., item removed during processing)
  • may be used for specific reimbursements (example: return shipping coverage, as stated in our Refund & Return Policy)

12) Returns, Replacements & Refunds

Returns/refunds are handled under our Refund & Return Policy (published on our website). Key points:

  • Wrong/damaged items must be reported within the stated time window
  • Books must be unused and in original condition
  • Sale/discount items may not be refundable (as stated in the policy)

Card payment refunds: approved refunds are processed back to the same card used for payment (bank timelines may vary).
Return shipping (if it’s our fault): when we cover return shipping costs, it may be provided as store credit (practical and faster).

13) Communications

You agree that we may contact you regarding your order by phone/email/WhatsApp/SMS for:

  • order confirmation (especially COD)
  • delivery coordination
  • payment verification (bank transfer)
  • support and issue resolution

14) Intellectual Property

All content on this website (logos, text, images, design elements) belongs to SciTech.lk or its content owners. You may not copy or reuse it without permission.

15) Limitation of Liability

We do our best to provide a reliable service. However:

  • delivery times are estimates, not guarantees
  • we are not responsible for losses caused by third-party delivery delays, incorrect customer details, or customer unavailability
  • to the extent permitted by law, our liability (if any) is limited to the amount paid for the relevant order

16) Complaints & Disputes

If you have an issue, please contact us first and we will try to resolve it quickly.

Consumers in Sri Lanka may also contact the Consumer Affairs Authority (CAA) for consumer complaints.

17) Governing Law

These Terms & Conditions are governed by the laws of Sri Lanka, and disputes will be handled under Sri Lankan jurisdiction.

18) Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms & Conditions from time to time. The latest version will always be posted on this page with the updated date.
